Five Salukis earn spots on MVC scholar-athlete teams

Lucy Horn, Kylie McDermott, Ashlyn Henrie, Olivia Anderson, and Sierra O'Grady have been recognized for their academic achievements by being named to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Scholar-Athlete teams. This announcement was made by the league this morning.

Lucy Horn secured a place on the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. A psychology major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, she played in all 19 games this season and led her team in minutes with 1,710. She holds the record for career minutes played in program history.

Kylie McDermott and Ashlyn Henrie were both selected for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Second Team. McDermott is a nursing major maintaining a 3.84 GPA. She started seven games and appeared in 17 throughout the season, tying for second on her team in assists with two. Previously, she was honored as a 2023 MVC Scholar-Athlete. Henrie studies biomedical engineering and has a GPA of 3.92. She started in 12 games and participated in 18 overall this season, ranking second on her team with two assists and leading with 23 shots.

Olivia Anderson and Sierra O'Grady were named to the Third Team. Anderson is an accounting major with a GPA of 3.76 who started in 14 games and participated in all 19 this season, recording seven shots on goal—the third highest on her team—and was also named to the All-Conference Third Team for 2024. O'Grady majors in University Studies with a perfect GPA of 4.0; she started in 14 games while playing all matches this season as well, tying for fourth place on her team by scoring three points while ranking third overall based upon total minutes played at approximately just over eleven hundred twenty-four hours.

Eligibility criteria for these honors require student-athletes to be sophomores or higher academically; they must maintain GPAs above or equal to three point five zero along within certain participation standards regarding their athletic contributions such as starting roles or serving key reserve positions during competitions according toward respective guidelines established therein aforementioned selection process conducted periodically each year under authority delegated respectively thereof through conference administration itself overseeing proceedings collectively determining recipients ultimately deserving recognition so accorded thereafter duly acknowledged formally publicized externally likewise beyond organizational confines involved directly executing tasks necessitated thereby.
