The Southern Illinois University (SIU) men's swimming and diving team is preparing to host the 2024 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship at Shea Natatorium. The event will take place from March 6th to March 9th.

Teams participating in the MAC Championship include Ball State, Evansville, Miami (Ohio), Missouri State, Southern Illinois, UIC, and Valparaiso.

SIU's men's team enters the championship following a dual meet victory against Ball State. The Salukis defeated the Cardinals with a score of 181-118 on February 10th.

Among the key athletes for SIU are Alex Santiago and Jack Khrypunov. Santiago has been named MAC Swimmer of the Week twice this season and finished first in the 50-yard freestyle in his last three meets. Khrypunov, also a two-time MAC Swimmer of the Week this season, recently set a school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:43.06.

The championship will commence on its first day at 6 p.m. Central Time with events including the 200-medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay.

Live streaming of each day's events will be available, and results can be tracked via MeetMobile. Additional details about the schedule and other information can be found on the MAC website at https://getsomemaction.com.
