Junior swimmer Alex Santiago represented the Salukis at the 2024 NCAA Men's Division I Swimming and Diving Championship over the weekend. Santiago participated in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.

On Thursday, Santiago competed in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 19.32 seconds, which placed him 31st overall. On Saturday, he swam in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 42.77 seconds and securing the 54th position overall.

Santiago joined the Saluki swimming and diving program as an unrecruited walk-on. Throughout this season, he has received several awards, including being named two-time Mid-American Conference (MAC) Swimmer of the Week, A3 Performance Invitational Male Swimmer of the Meet, and Outstanding Swimmer of the Year at the 2024 MAC Championship.

As Santiago concludes his junior season as an NCAA qualifier, he also marks a significant milestone for his team. This year represents a historic postseason for the swimming program with representation at both NCAA Championships for the first time since 1992.
