The Southern Illinois women's swimming and diving team is set to compete against Illinois and Illinois State on Friday, November 1, at Shea Natatorium. The meet will commence at 2 p.m.
Southern Illinois' women's team remains undefeated as they approach their third meet of the season. Recently, they secured a victory over UIC with a score of 202-96, achieving 12 first-place finishes. Olivia Herron made notable contributions by setting three new program records in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard individual medley (IM). Additionally, she established a new Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.13. On the diving front, Farida Moussa led for the Salukis in the one-meter dive with a score of 247.58 points.
Illinois State enters this meet following a loss to Ohio on October 19. The Redbirds were predicted to finish fourth in the preseason poll. Historically, Southern Illinois leads their series against Illinois State with nine wins to three losses.
Meanwhile, Illinois arrives at Friday's meet undefeated after securing victories over Vanderbilt and Illinois State. Since their series began in 1980, Illinois has maintained an advantage over Southern Illinois with a record of 20 wins to two losses.
