State Rep. Paul Jacobs: 'Are you registered to vote in Illinois?'

State Representative Charlie Meier recently utilized social media to inform the public about voter registration in Illinois. In an October 28 Facebook post, he asked, "Are you registered to vote in Illinois?"

"Are you registered to vote in Illinois," said Paul Jacobs, according to Facebook.

According to NBC5 Chicago, Meier shared a link directing users to a report that explained how the Illinois State Board of Elections assists individuals in checking their registration status and locating polling places. The report also highlighted the grace period for voter registration, which allows unregistered individuals to cast their ballots by visiting the county clerk’s office or a polling place offering same-day voter registration.

NBC5 further reported that those wishing to check their registration status online or register can do so through the Illinois State Board of Elections website. This platform provides comprehensive information on various topics, including voting systems, candidate filing and results, and campaign disclosure. To register, individuals must be U.S. citizens aged 18 or older for consolidated or general elections or 17 at the time of registry if they will be 18 by election day. The grace period extends from the 27th day before an election through election day.

Illinois residents interested in learning about ballot drop box locations or finding their polling places can access this information on the State Board of Elections website. Election results will also be posted there following the November 5 general election.

Jacobs was first elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2020. Before his legislative career, he worked as an optometrist and owned Von Jakob Vineyard in Alto Pass. His service record includes time in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1971. According to his official biography, he and his wife have four grown children and ten grandchildren.
