Southern Illinois faces Evansville to end regular soccer season

The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team is set to conclude its regular season with a match against Evansville in Indiana on Sunday, October 27. The game will begin at 12 p.m.

Southern Illinois, known as the Salukis, holds a record of 6-6-5 overall and 2-4-3 in conference play. Their recent match resulted in a 2-1 loss to Drake. McKensey Bunch scored her fifth goal of the season during this game, making her the team's top scorer. Sophia Schlicklin follows closely with four goals. Dana Cruz leads in assists with three for the season. Overall, nine players have contributed to Southern Illinois' total of 17 goals this season. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) for goals allowed, having conceded 17 this season. Both Solano and Lucy Horn have played 1,530 minutes each.

Evansville enters Sunday's match with a record of 1-7-7 overall and remains winless in conference play with a record of 0-4-5. They recently secured a draw against Indiana State with a scoreline of 2-2. Chrysta Vasquez is Evansville's leading goal scorer with two goals.

This upcoming match marks the fifth encounter between Southern Illinois and Evansville. The series currently stands at one win for each team and two draws. Their last meeting ended in a 1-1 tie.
