Southern Illinois University women’s soccer to face Valparaiso this Sunday

The Southern Illinois University (SIU) women's soccer team is set to continue its road trip with a match against Valparaiso on Sunday, October 6, at 1 p.m. in Valparaiso, Indiana.

The Salukis come into the game with a record of 5-2-5 after drawing 0-0 against UIC. Seven players from the team have scored goals this season, contributing to a total of 13 goals so far. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano stands second in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) for goals allowed, having conceded nine this season. Additionally, Maycie Massingill leads the MVC in game-winning goals with two. Solano and defender Lucy Horn have both played 1080 minutes each this season.

Valparaiso enters Sunday's match with an overall record of 4-8 and is yet to secure a win in conference play, standing at 0-4. The Beacons recently faced a 2-1 defeat against Illinois State on Thursday. Addy Joiner leads Valparaiso in scoring.

This upcoming match marks the fifth meeting between SIU and Valparaiso, with the series currently tied at two wins each. In their last encounter, SIU was defeated by Valparaiso with a score of 2-1.
