Southern Illinois Women's Golf heads to Iowa City for Thomason Invite

Southern Illinois University's Women's Golf team is set to compete in the Diane Thomason Invitational Presented by Scheels, starting Monday in Iowa City. The event spans two days, with the first 36 holes played on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.

The tournament includes teams from Bowling Green State, Drake, Iowa (host), Missouri State, Montana State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma City, Southern Illinois, Southern Mississippi, UAB, UTRGV, UTSA and Wisconsin.

Representing Southern Illinois are Pihla Pennanen, Kayla Sayyalinh, Calli Smith, Ella Overstreet and Kylee Vaughan. The Salukis recently finished sixth at The Velvet tournament where Kayla Sayyalinh secured a ninth-place individual finish.

Weather forecasts predict sunshine and a high of 84 degrees with winds between five to ten miles per hour on Monday. Tuesday will be cooler with a high of 70 degrees and winds ranging from ten to twenty miles per hour.

Live scoring will be available for those following the tournament. Tee-off time is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
