The Southern Illinois Women's Golf team is set to participate in its second fall tournament at The Velvet Classic in Murray, Kentucky, starting Monday. The event will span two days, featuring 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Salukis will field a five-woman team along with one individual golfer. Representing the team are Pihla Pennanen, Kayla Sayyalinh, Kylee Vaughan, Morgan Gindler, Calli Smith, and Amelia Zingler as an individual competitor. In their previous outing at the Green Wave Invitational last week, Sayyalinh and Pennanen were the top performers for Southern Illinois. Both golfers finished tied for 16th place after shooting eight over par.
Weather forecasts predict a high of 86 degrees with sunny intervals for Monday and similar conditions on Tuesday.
