Southern Illinois women's soccer to face Kansas City

The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team will travel to Kansas City, Missouri, to face the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday, August 29, at 5 p.m.

Southern Illinois is currently on a two-game win streak. Sophia Schlicklin and McKensey Bunch lead the team in goals with two each. Marta Forne and Brooklyn Maier have each scored one goal. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano has recorded 14 saves and has allowed only three goals this season. Solano, Forne, and Lucy Horn lead the team in minutes played.

Forne was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defender of the Week, while Schlicklin received the MVC Freshman of the Week honor after SIU secured wins against Southeast Missouri State and Indiana University-Indianapolis last week.

Kansas City enters Thursday's game with a record of 2-0-2. The Roos have shut out their last two opponents. Adriana Benassi leads Kansas City in goals with two.

This will be the third meeting between Southern Illinois and Kansas City. Kansas City leads the series 1-0-1, with their last matchup in 2023 ending in a 1-1 tie.
