The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team is set to play at home for the first time this season against Indiana University-Indianapolis on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Carbondale, IL.
The Salukis secured their first victory of the season against Southeast Missouri State, defeating the Redhawks 1-0 on Thursday night. Sophia Schlicklin recorded her first goal as a Saluki, with Dana Cruz assisting. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solana made two saves in her third start for SIU. Marta Forne and Solana have both played the full 280 minutes of the season so far.
IU Indianapolis enters Sunday's match with a record of 0-1-1, following a 2-0 loss to Lindenwood on Thursday night. Midfielder Emma Frey led IU Indy with three shots, including two on goal, and played the full 90 minutes against Lindenwood. Caroline Kelley leads IU Indy in goals for the season.
This will be the third meeting between SIU and IU Indianapolis, with the Jaguars leading the series 2-0. The last matchup occurred in 2023 when SIU lost 2-0 in Indianapolis; their first encounter was in 2019, which also ended in a 2-0 defeat for SIU.
