Salukis to face SEMO Redhawks this Thursday

The Southern Illinois University (SIU) women's soccer team will continue its road games with a match against Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Southern Illinois enters the game with a record of 0-0-2 following a draw against UT Martin on Sunday, August 18. The Salukis registered 18 shots and nine shots on goal during that match. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano made nine saves in the game.

McKensey Bunch has scored two goals for the Salukis this season, both coming in the season opener at Jackson State on August 15. Bunch has now scored seven goals in her career, tying for second all-time at SIU. Solano, Lucy Horn, and Marta Forne are the only players who have played all 180 minutes so far this season.

Ashlyn Henrie leads the team in both total shots (eight) and shots on goal (four) through the first two matches.

SEMO lost its first game of the season to Murray State, 2-1, on Sunday, August 18. Their initial game scheduled for August 15 against the University of Missouri-St. Louis was postponed. Elizabeth Rater currently leads SEMO in goals with one.

In their series history, SEMO leads SIU with a record of 2-1. The teams first met in 2019 when SIU lost 2-0. The Salukis secured their first win in the series in 2022.
