Village of De Soto Board of Trustees met July 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Eric Schuler called the first monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Rachel Alstat, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Tony Rushing, to approve the June expense report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Fern Martin, seconded by Brian Gleason, to add a payment of $150.00 to Jennifer Morgan as reimbursement for payment to the umpires for the slow pitch tournament, from the General Fund, Line Item 154-80. Upon roll vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Fern Martin – Yes; Rachel Alstat – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Rachel Alstat, seconded by Fern Martin, to pay the list of bills as amended. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Fern Martin – Yes; Rachel Alstat – Yes. Motion carried.

Sue Jennings was not present to discuss the water bill. Trustee Tony Rushing said he would gather information on the issue.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Tony Rushing, to renew the agreement with De Soto Township Fire Protection District for facility use, effective July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Fern Martin – Yes; Rachel Alstat – Yes. Motion carried.

President Eric Schuler reported that the 62924 Event went great with only one small incident. There was a good turnout, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Board members were appreciative of the work the 62924 Committee put into the event and of all the volunteers.

Trustee Tony Rushing presented two bids for a pickup truck: Jim Hays, Dodge, $37,152.00; Vic Koenig Chevrolet, used vehicle with 9,000 miles, $31,886.00. Danny Vancil had received a bid via telephone from Baker Chevrolet, 32,000.00. Mr. Vancil will get a written bid from Baker.

The next village board meeting will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the village hall.
