State Representatives Patrick Windhorst and Paul Jacobs hosted their annual Summer Reading Club “Night at the Ballpark” on Thursday, July 25, at Mountain Dew Park in Marion. The event coincided with a Thrillville Thrillbillies game and celebrated the efforts of incoming 1st through 4th grade students who read eight books over their summer vacation.

Rep. Windhorst expressed gratitude to the students and their parents for their participation. "This is an event that seems to get bigger every year, and that is a positive thing for our students," Rep. Windhorst stated. "We are proud to work with the Thrillville Thrillbillies and with our local libraries in partnership to make our summer reading program an ongoing success!"

Rep. Paul Jacobs shared similar sentiments, saying, "We are always thrilled to meet with these students and their parents and to provide a couple of baseball game tickets to watch our hometown Thrillbillies take on the competition." He added, "I’ve been impressed each year with the growth of the program and the professional relationship we have developed with the Thrillbillies organization. They do a great job putting a good team on the field and providing a quality entertainment product for the people of Southern Illinois!"
