Southern Illinois University women's basketball head coach Kelly Bond-White has announced the signing of Ternadoo Agatha Agba, a 5-foot-9 guard from Lagos, Nigeria.

"I am beyond excited to welcome Ternadoo not only into our program but on touching down in Carbondale," Bond-White said. "She is the last of our guard core to be announced this year despite being one of the first to sign with us."

Agba is a versatile guard capable of playing multiple positions. The Lagos native is noted for her explosiveness, strong first step, ability to get downhill, and deep shooting range. She will also contribute defensively by guarding multiple positions.

"She may be the fastest player baseline to baseline I've coached," Bond-White said. "Watching her compete and understand spacing, angles of attack, moving without the ball excited us."

Agba will join as an incoming freshman with extensive high-level experience. She has played for Nigeria's national team and was one of four players selected from her area for the country's three-on-three competition. Additionally, she participated in the All-African Games in Ghana, where her team placed second.

Her versatility and athleticism earned her a silver medal with her national team and recognition as one of the top five players in a women's tournament.

Academically, Agba's plans are still undecided. She will begin with core courses while choosing between Health or Business Administration at SIU.

"Our diverse Southern Illinois community continues to play a strong role in student-athletes giving us the nod," Bond-White said. "Our CIE program, compliance, athletic advising, and our staff's connections both local and abroad were tremendous throughout."

Bond-White expressed confidence in the team's future after seeing Agba interact with current members: "I slept with a big smile after watching the team and Ternadoo interact in my office knowing our present is shaping up nicely."
