Southern Illinois' Calli Smith, Kayla Sayyalinh, Allie Santos, Secilia Ho, and Kylee Vaughan earned 2023-24 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar honors, the organization announced Monday. A total of 1,497 women's collegiate golfers were recognized from 412 programs. The criteria require a minimum 3.50 GPA to earn a spot on the All-American Scholar list.
"To have five players named All-American Scholars is such an amazing accomplishment," SIU Director of Golf Justin Fetcho said. "There is so much hard work that is required both on the course and in the classroom to achieve this honor."
Calli Smith, a freshman Sport Administration major, earned a 3.91 GPA during the 2023-24 school year. She competed in 17 rounds with an average score of 81.53.
Kayla Sayyalinh, an Exercise Science major, earned a 3.61 GPA as a freshman while competing in 29 rounds of golf, shooting an average of 79.34.
Allie Santos, a freshman Computer Science major, earned a 3.65 GPA while competing in 21 rounds where she carded a 79.81 average.
Secilia Ho graduated from Master's school in Electrical and Computer Engineering and tallied a 3.97 while competing in 29 rounds of golf, carding a 79.41 average.
Kylee Vaughan, a senior Exercise Science major, earned a 3.66 GPA while competing in 25 rounds where she carded an 81.24 round average.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing over 600 women's collegiate golf coaches nationwide.
