Rep. Severin: Honor Our Nation’s Heroes on National Medal of Honor Day

Mar 25 2024

Rep. Severin called on Americans to recognize and honor the nation's heroes on National Medal of Honor Day, a day dedicated to those who have been awarded the highest military honor for valor.

National Medal of Honor Day is a time to pay tribute to the brave individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness in service to their country. Rep. Severin emphasized the significance of this day by stating, "National Medal of Honor Day recognizes those who have received the highest military award for valor."

The Medal of Honor, established in 1861, is a prestigious award that has been bestowed upon only a select few. Rep. Severin highlighted this exclusivity by noting, "Since its creation in 1861, only 3,517 members of the armed forces have achieved this great honor."

In the spirit of honoring the heroes who have received this distinguished award, Rep. Severin also reminded visitors to the website that campaign-related posts, content, and comments are prohibited by ethics regulations, as the site is state-sponsored and funded.

As the nation commemorates National Medal of Honor Day, let us reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to defend our freedom and uphold the values of our nation.
