Illinois has officially kicked off the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Mapping Challenge, inviting residents to participate in the initiative. The process, which allows residents to complete three speed tests over three days, is now underway and will continue until March 18, 2024.

According to a statement released by the organizers, "Illinois’ Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Mapping Challenge Process has started." This marks the beginning of an important effort to improve broadband access and connectivity throughout the state.

Residents are encouraged to take part in the challenge by visiting www.BEADchallenge.org. As stated, "residents can complete 3 speed tests over 3 days anytime before March 18, 2024" to contribute valuable data that will help in mapping out broadband equity and access in Illinois.

The mapping challenge aims to address gaps in broadband infrastructure and ensure that all communities have equal access to high-speed internet. By actively participating in the initiative, residents can play a crucial role in shaping the future of broadband connectivity in Illinois.

The BEAD Mapping Challenge represents a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and creating a more inclusive and connected Illinois. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to make a difference in their communities and contribute to a more equitable distribution of broadband resources.
