City of Marion City Council met April 24.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

A. Discuss/Approve Ordinance 3876 certifying the election results from the April 4, 2023 Consolidated Election for the City of Marion.

B. Administer Oath of Office to Re-Elected Mayor Michael W. Absher.

C. Administer Oaths of Office to Re-Elected Commissioners John Stoecklin, James J. Webb, Doug Patton, and John Monroe Barwick, Jr.

D. Discuss/Approve Ordinance 3877 assigning supervision and authority to the Mayor and the Commissioners over the City Departments.

E. Discuss/Approve Ordinance 3878 defining Mayor and Commissioners' duties and responsibilities with their respective departments.

F. Discuss/Approve Ordinance 3879 approving 2023-2024 department appointments.

A. INVOICES

1) Approve the invoice from GHA Technologies; a three-year licensing agreement for city-wide wireless internet access points.

2) Approve donation of $500 to Marion Chamber of Commerce in support of the Marion Grad Spree; a budgeted item.

B. EMPLOYMENT

1) HUB RECREATION CENTER

Approve the recommendation of the General Manager to hire Grace Anglin as part-time Front Desk Attendant $13.00/hour, and Cafe Attendant $13.00/hour, pending results of pre-employment requirements.

2) STREET DEPARTMENT

Approve the recommendation of the Superintendent to hire Travis Winn to a Seasonal Laborer position at $15.50/hour.

Approve the recommendation of the Superintendent to hire David Walsner to a Seasonal Laborer position at $15.50/hour.

3) CEMETERY

Approve the recommendation of the Superintendent to hire Kyle Byrne to a Seasonal Laborer position at $15.50/hour.

4) MARION CARNEGIE LIBRARY

Approve the recommendation of the Director to promote Madilyn Short to Coordinator of Young Adult Services at $15/hour.

Approve the recommendation of the Director to promote Araya Jennings to full-time Librarian I at $13.50/hour.

Approve the recommendation of the Director to increase part-time hours for Chancellor Davis to 24 hours per week.

5) MARION CULTURAL AND CIVIC CENTER

Approve the recommendation of the Director to hire Nicholos Steinberger to an open, part-time, Custodian position at $13.00/hour.

C. MINUTES

1) Discuss/Approve minutes from the April 10, 2023 council meeting.
