UPEA Remarks

Amendment of School Calendar for 2022-2023

*Considering we utilized a combination of one snow day and e-learning days in lieu of inclement weather days this winter, the last day of student attendance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The final Teacher’s  Institute will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, and 8th Grade Graduation will be held on Thursday, May  18, 2023. In the event of future inclement weather days, additional student attendance days will be added to the  end of the calendar.

Reschedule May 2023 Board Meeting

*Due to the revised graduation date, the Board will need to determine a meeting date for the regular May meeting.

2023-2024 Proposed School Calendar

*The proposed 2023-2024 school calendar is enclosed for your review. The proposed calendar was reviewed by  the Continuous Improvement Team, UPEA Calendar Committee, building administration, and secretarial staff. It  is the recommendation of the administration to approve the calendar as presented.

Bus Upgrade Planning

*Several buses in our fleet are considered obsolete by industry standards. Finding replacement parts for them has  become extremely difficult due to warehouse supply issues and manufacturing cut-backs. Inflation, as well as the  lack of supply has led to enormous wait times and cost increases to maintain our current bus fleet.

Administrative Updates

*Current Enrollment Figures (3/16/23)

*Continuous School Improvement Update

-Mrs. Varble will provide an overview of the items addressed by the CIT team on March 20, including the  proposed Title I Consolidated District Plan.

Official Employment of Personnel

*Per Board approval in August to hire remaining staff as needed for the current school year, the administration  recommends the official employment of the following individual(s) effective immediately:

-4.5 Hour/Day Bus Driver: Suzanne Phillips

-Substitute Bus Driver: Jim Crane

Executive Session (To consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of  specific employees of the public body; and the placement of individual students in special education programs and other  matters relating to individual students.)

*Withdrawal of ISBE Due Process Complaint

*Superintendent’s Evaluation and Contract Revisions
