Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Carbondale) recently announced he had the endorsement of Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Effingham).

"I am proud to have the support of my good friend and fellow Southern Illinois Republican State Representative Blaine Wilhour in my race for re-election," Jacobs posted on Facebook. "Blaine is a strong advocate for the conservative agenda, and fights to protect life, and our Second Amendment Rights. Thank you Blaine!"

Incumbent Jacobs will face Democratic candidate Van Ikner in the Nov. 8 general election to represent the newly drawn 118th District.

Jacobs was first elected to the Illinois House in 2020. His legislative experience includes serving on the Tourism, and Higher Education committees. Jacobs resides in Pomona.

Jacobs defeated Aaron Smith in June's Republican primary.

“Thank you Southern Illinois,” Jacobs wrote on Facebook in June. “I look forward to continuing to serve you in Springfield as your conservative State Representative!”

In June, Jacobs received the endorsement of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Illinois.

"I am pleased to share the news that I have been endorsed by Associated Builders and Contractors of Illinois!" Jacobs posted. "I am proud to have built a record as state representative that proves I support our construction workers, builders and contractors. Vote Paul Jacobs for 118th District."

In May, he got the endorsement of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois.

"I am pleased to have the endorsement of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois. I will continue to stand up for those who risk so much to protect us," Jacobs posted.

The 118th District includes Carbondale and Jonesboro.
