Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Carbondale) recently took to Facebook on April 16 to announce an endorsement.

"I am pleased to have the endorsement of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois. I will continue to stand up for those who risk so much to protect us," Jacobs posted.

Since he announced his re-election bid in September 2021, Jacobs has sponsored bills to combat catalytic converter theft and to repeal the SAFE-T Act. He has also spoken out about the need for ethics reform after the indictment of former Speaker of the House Michael Madigan.

When Jacobs' announced his re-election bid, he said he will focus on reducing crime and drug dependency rates, reducing taxes, and putting a stop to corruption in Illinois government.

"We must address our financial obligations, stop spending money we don’t have, and take positive steps to lower taxes and stop self-serving politicians from further damaging the reputation of our state," Jacobs said, according to WSILTV.

"I am your conservative voice in Springfield, working to protect good-paying middle-class jobs in Southern Illinois while fighting attempts by Chicago politicians to enact policies that shutter our plants and hike our electricity prices," Jacobs posted on his website in September. "In the years to come, I will be fighting to repeal the Illinois 'Green New Deal.'"

Dr. Jacobs owned an optometry practice in Carbondale and a winery in Alto Pass when he won his seat in the House of Representatives in 2019.
