Village of DeSoto Board of Trustees met Jan. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Douglas Hexamer called the second monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Board Secretary, Jana Fann, was present to record the minutes in the absence of the Village Clerk.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motioned Carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to approve the December 2021 revenue report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

Carol and Bill Cain who reside at 101 Williams Road were present to find out what could be done about their water leak. Douglas Hexamer explained that the engineer, Harold Sheffer of J.T. Blankinship, will meet with our Director of Public Works, David Griffin, to discuss possible solutions to fix the problem.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to approve the Jackson County 911 Intergovernmental Agreement. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to hire Joseph Prowell as a full- time police officer effective today at a starting pay of $15 per hour with one year probation. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to allow the American Legion to use the 4-way intersection for collection on May 13, 2022, with a rain date of May 20, 2022. Motion carried.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to allow the Lion’s Club to use the 4-way intersection for collection on April 29, 2022, with a rain date of May 6, 2022. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to allow the Lion’s Club to use the 4-way intersection for collection again on October 7, 2022, with a rain date of October 14, 2022. Motion carried.

Jennifer Morgan stated that Little League will begin their season on May 16, 2022 and will run to June 25, 2022. Tournaments will follow.

The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled at the park for April 9, 2022 with a rain date of April 16, 2022.

The next meeting will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 7:00 PM at the village hall.

Motion by Brian Gleason, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to adjourn at 7:50 P.M. Motion carried.
