2. General Business of the City Council
Action: 2.1 Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Submit an Application for Rebuild Downtown & Main Streets Grant Funds for a Downtown Entertainment and Event Plaza
Council comments and questions included an inquiry about the Mayor's remarks made during a local radio show, the expected capacity based on the draft design, questions and concerns about the bidding timeline and the contractors and the inclusion of persons who reside in the city, an expected timeline about when the grant decision might be decided, as well as the timeline for construction, whether the grant funds would be possibly negotiated at a lower amount, and a question about the internal approvals for the agenda item. Thad Heckman and Steven Mitchell responded to Council questions.
MOTION: Approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit an application for the Rebuild Downtowns & Main Streets Capital Grant Program funds requesting $2,055,040 in funding to construct an entertainment and event plaza downtown
Motion by Carolin Harvey, second by Jeff Doherty.
