Report: Crab Orchard School District spent $8,284 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Crab Orchard Community Unit School District 3 was up 12.7 percent from five years ago, according to the Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Williamson County school district spent $7,353 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $8,284 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment remained unchanged over the same period, with 521 students.

Crab Orchard's spending in 2019-20 was 42.8 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
