Report: Johnston City School District spent $9,717 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Johnston City Community Unit School District 1 was up 31.5 percent from five years ago, according to the Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Williamson County school district spent $7,390 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,717 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,125 to 1,099 students over the same period.

Johnston City's spending in 2019-20 was 32.9 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
