Jackson County Liquor Advisory Board met Nov. 16.

Call to Order (5:00 PM)

Approval of Minutes
I. 21-6552 Approval of September 21, 2021 Minutes
A motion was made by Sheriff's Department Representative Lindsey, seconded by Health Department Representative Scerena, to approve The September 21, 2021 minutes as presented. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Old Business
II. 21-6553 Liquor Ordinance Article VI
Cervantez explained that the change to the ordinance would allow no one under the age of 21 to sit or stand within 5 feet of a bar when alcoholic liquor is being served.
A motion was made by Legislative & Public Safety Committee Chair Calandro, seconded by Health Department Representative Scerena, to approve recommendation to the full Board the change to the Liquor Ordinance Article VI. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
New Business
Larkin asked the County Administrator to draft a letter to the Kinkaid Marina stating that according to the State's Attorney Office, government entities are not allowed to hold liquor licenses.
III. 21-6554 Brew's Brothers Taproom Application
The request for this application was for a one-day application to sell liquor.
A motion was made by Sheriff's Department Representative Lindsey, seconded by Legislative & Public Safety Committee Chair Calandro, to approve the Brew's Brothers Taproom Application. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
IV. 21-6555 Von Jakob Distillery
The County Administrator explained to the committee that Von Jakob has moved their distillery to their main building and will no longer need two separate liquor licenses. The committee agreed that the Tavern Class A was the appropriate option for the establishment.
A motion was made by Legislative & Public Safety Committee Chair Calandro, seconded by Health Department Representative Scerena, to approve the Von Jakob 2022 Liquor License application as presented. The motion carried by unanimous vote.

A motion was made before discussion of the applications occurred. Scerena pulled the Kinkaid Marina applications for discussion noting that if DAR sold to the conservancy district, he wasn't sure if they would be able to sell liquor. Calandro commented that there was no reason to not approve their 2022 Liquor License applications noting that if things change in the future, the license could be pulled.
A motion was made by Sheriff's Department Representative Lindsey, seconded by State's Attorney's Office Representative Cervantez, to approve the 2022 Liquor License Applications A through GG on the Meeting agenda. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
