issued the following announcement on June 25

Have you heard? The Sunset Concert Series is back! Carbondale Park District excitedly announced on Friday, June 25, that the summer concert series would continue after being canceled last year due to Covid-19 community spread concerns. Now with Illinois being in Phase 5: Illinois Restored and community spread of Covid-19 being so low, agencies such as Carbondale Park District, SIU Programming Council, SIU Student Center, and City of Carbondale quickly came together to make the extremely popular concert series happen.

The free, family-friendly event is each Thursday evening at 7:00pm starting July 22 and ending August 26.  That is six great concerts available for you and your family to enjoy! The full lineup is as follows:

·        July 22, Shawn Holt and the Teardrops, an American blues band, will perform at Turley Park.

·        July 29, Rocky Athas, the legendary blues guitarist, will perform at Shryock.

·        August 5, The Cerny Brothers, a Heartland rock band, will perform at Shryock.

·        August 12, Steel City Jug Slammers, an American jug band, will perform at Turley Park.

·        August 19, Josh Gilbert Band, which plays Americana, rock, and the blues, will perform at Turley Park.

·        August 26, Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hell Raisers, which play zydeco music, will perform at Shryock.
