Agency Reports  

Peterson: Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission 

The Greater Egypt commission met by zoom on March 9, 2021. The Commission members approved the FY 2022 budget of  $1,135,741. This is the second year for Greater Egypt to have a budget over a million dollars. The staff will be working on  new DRA and EDA projects for this grant cycle as grant projects are brought to the commission.  

Southern Illinois Metropolitan Planning Organization 

The SIMPO Policy Committee met in person and by zoom on March 8, 2021. The members approved the FY 22-25 TIP.  Jackson County projects in the TIP include reconstruction on New Era Road and a new culvert on East College Street in  Carbondale. 

UCCI, Executive Committee only will meet for the month of April. Tentatively for May meeting to be in person and zoom.  Summer Seminar in Galena is still hopefully happening. 

Mueller: 

JGA had a great presentation on February 8 hosted by Carbondale Public Library. Looking for a time in April for Steve  Mitchell to talk to Jackson County about the Opportunity and Enterprise Zones. The meeting for April 19, 2021 will be to  elect officers and board members, there are 3 board seats available. JGA is hoping to finalize the Executive Directors position  in April 2021. 

Chairman Report  

I. 21-5864 Greater Egypt Rural Transportation Planning Initiative  

Greater Egypt Rural Transportation Planning Initiative was awarded an IDOT grant. Julie  

Peterson and Mitch Burdick will give representation for the board. 

The board discussed going back to in person meetings in April, Jennifer and Keith are to check  with the Health Dept. on the requirements to be able to do this. 

American Rescue Plan Act is funding for local government, Jackson County should be getting  some funding in 60 to 90 days. 

Per the IRS, Jackson County had $650,000.00 in fines, which have been waived do to Jennifer,  Cleta and Leslie Williams going through the numbers. 

Approval of Consent Agenda  

A motion was made by J.S. Rendleman and seconded by Calandro to approve the consent agenda with the removal of 21-5873. Roll  call vote, motion carries.

Decided to table the Approval of Accepted bid for 1 Bariatric Ambulance until the following  month.

A motion was made by Comparato, seconded by Erbes, to approve the payment of monthly  claims in the amount of $298,026.80. The motion carried by the following vote:

XVIII. 21-5880 Treasurer Budget Adjustment  

A motion was made by Comparato, seconded by Calandro, to approve the Treasurers budget  adjustment. The motion carried by the following vote: 

Yes: 11 - Basden, Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, J. S. Rendleman, Larkin, Morris,  Mueller, Peterson and Phillips 

Absent: 3 - Edmond, Scott and Snyder

Legislative & Public Safety Committee  

Calandro had nothing new to report but wanted to state what a great job the Health Dept. was doing during Covid-19 and  distributing the shots.

XIX. 21-5881 Approval of Resolution 2021-40 Salary of County Engineer  

A motion was made by Peterson, seconded by Comparato, to approve the Resolution 2021-40  Salary of County Engineer. The motion carried by the following vote: 

Yes: 11 - Basden, Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, J. S. Rendleman, Larkin, Morris,  Mueller, Peterson and Phillips

XX. 21-5882 Approval of Resolution 2021-41 Resolution for Maintenance Under the Illinois Highway Code  A motion was made by Peterson, seconded by Calandro, to approve Resolution 2021-41
