Q2 2020 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Jackson County?

There were 23 offenders released on parole during the second quarter of 2020 that live in Jackson County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Carbondale Reporter.

The data shows that 20 men and three women were released in Jackson County. The median age of the parolees was 37. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced for a crime against justice in 2019, and the oldest was a 64-year-old man sentenced for homicide in 1991.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Jessie Watson. He was convicted of homicide in 1991 when he was 35 years old. He is now 64.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the second quarter of 2020 in each Jackson County municipality with at least one parolee in the quarter.
