Herrin Community Unit School District 4 Board met Aug. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mr. Loucks led the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: Those answering roll call were Kathy Woodcock, Steve Young, Dave Loucks, Mark Collins, Susie Etherton, Daniel Kay, and Kelly Green

VISITOR PARTICIPATION:

Jennifer McCabe spoke on behalf of the Herrin Education Association Eric Ewell discussed his concerns regarding the remote learning.

REQUEST FOR EXECUTIVE SESSION: Kay made a motion, seconded by Collins to close the meeting in accordance with Section 120/2(a) of the Open Meetings Act, citing the following exceptions as contained in Section 120/2(c):

a. Discuss Specific Employee(s)

RE-CONVENE TO OPEN SESSION: Green made a motion, seconded by Woodcock to reconvene to Open Session. All members present voted yea.

A) DISCUSS SPECIFIC EMPLOYEE(S)

1. Discuss Superintendent Search – Kay made a motion, seconded by Collins to hire the Illinois Association of School Board executive search team to aide in the employment in the new Superintendent. All members present voted yea.

ADJOURNMENT: Having completed items on the agenda, Kay made a motion, seconded by Woodcock to adjourn until the next meeting of the Board of Education scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., in the Unit Office Conference Room, 500 North Tenth Street, Herrin, IL 62948.
