The annual Community Champions Banquets hosted by Centerstone to honor community leaders who have advanced mental health and substance use disorder services in their local communities through their advocacy will be replaced, due to COVID-19, with a video honoring this year’s six winners.

Centerstone, a national leader in behavioral health care, will post the video recognizing the three winners each from both the Metro-East and Southern Illinois regions, according to the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce.

The winners from the Metro-East region are Steve Konopka of Highland High School, Ty Bechel of Alton Memorial Hospital, and former Centerstone board member Lindley Renken. The winners from the Southern Illinois region are Nancy Maxwell of The Women’s Center, Amber Aden of Carbondale Towers, and Joanna Simpson-Abel of Carbondale Towers.
