Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Banterra Bank is showing their support to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois (BGCSI) by providing a $35,000 donation to the organization, as well as promoting and collecting additional donations at their branches throughout September.

"The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois offers thousands of young people in our communities the opportunity for a better future," said Jeff May, president of Banterra. "We want to make every effort to support the youth in the areas that we serve, as well as the growth of this organization, which will include a new facility in Marion coming in 2021."

Banterra was able to apply for a Targeted Impact Fund through Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago that would benefit charity organizations who support populations hardest hit by COVID-19, as well as racial equity disparities across our district. Banterra chose to submit The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois as the recipient and agreed to offer matching funds to the fullest potential, with a total of $20,000 being provided in the grant and $15,000 provided directly from Banterra.

Additionally, Banterra is taking monetary donations throughout September at all Banterra branches to further support Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois.
