Murphysboro Pomona Somerset Fire Protection District responded to 66 calls in 2018 - 22.4 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Murphysboro Pomona Somerset included 30 fires - 21 structure fires, one vehicle fire and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $685,500 in fire loss - or about $22,850 per fire.

The department also received 35 false calls, including 16 malicious calls and 19 other false calls.
