Jackson County Finance and Administration Committee met Aug. 10.

Call to Order (5:00 PM)

Members Present: Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Members Absent: Nehring

Also present: Maureen Berkowitz, Jennifer Lindsey, Mary Beth Varner, Orval Rowe, Liz Hunter, Josh Barringer, Kenton Schafer, Gene Turk

Approval of Minutes

I. 20-5217 Approval of July 13, 2020 Minutes

A motion was made by Rendleman, seconded by Peterson, to approve the July 13, 2020 minutes as presented. The motion carried by unanimous vote.

Chair's Report Insurance

II. 20-5218 Work Comp Update

Nothing for this agenda item. Update was given during Executive Session.

III. 20-5219 Payment of Hope Trust Dental & Vision Claims in the amount of $9,022.71

A motion was made by Calandro, seconded by Rendleman, to approve the payment of Hope Trust Dental & Vision Claims in the amount of $9,022.71. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

IV. 20-5220 Payment of Hope Trust Run Out Claims in the amount of $0.00

This item was an informational only item due to no run out claims for the month.

V. 20-5221 Payment of Hope Trust Medical Administration Cl aim in the amount of $269,952.00

A motion was made by Peterson, seconded by Rendleman, to approve the payment of Hope Trust Medical Administration Claim in the amount of $269,952.00. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

VI. 20-5222 Property & Liability Insurance Bids

There was discussion between the committee members on whether the County should go out for bid for Property & Liability Insurance. It was discussed that the County Administrator should request quotes from different companies prior to the September Finance meeting.

A motion was made by Comparato, seconded by Rendleman, to authorize the County Administrator to ask insurance companies for property & liability price quotes. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

VII. 20-5224 Payment of County Monthly Claims

A motion was made by Rendleman, seconded by Peterson, to approve the payment of County Monthly Claims in the amount of $238,830.48. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

VIII. 20-5225 Approval of On-Demand Claims in the amount of $45,444.74 Rendleman questioned what most of the On Demand Claims were from this month, to which Hunter responded that most were from the County Clerk's Office for election purposes.

A motion was made by Calandro, seconded by Comparato, to approve On Demand Claims in the amount of $45,444.74. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

IX. 20-5226 Payment of Board Member Travel Expenses in the amount of $2,283.33

A motion was made by Rendleman, seconded by D. Bost, to approve payment of Board Member Travel Expenses in the amount of $2,283.33. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

X. 20-5230 Lion's Club Flag Service

A motion was made by D. Bost, seconded by Peterson, to approve the County to participate in the Lion's Club Flag Service. The motion carried by the following vote:

Absent: 1 - Nehring

XIII. 20-5229 Executive Session Under 2 (c) 11 of the Illinois Open Meetings Act to Discuss Work Comp Litigation

All motions were made after exiting Executive Session.

A motion was made by Calandro, seconded by Comparato, to approve the committee to go into Executive Session. The motion carried by unanimous vote.

A motion was made by Comparato, seconded by Rendleman, to authorize the County Administrator to work with Bleyer and IPMG and follow their recommendation as discussed in Executive Session for item 1. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring

A motion was made by Peterson, seconded by Rendleman, to approve what the County Administrator suggested to do in Executive Session for item 2. The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: 6 - Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Peterson and Rendleman

Absent: 1 - Nehring
