Galena Unit School District #120 Board of Education Facility Committee met Aug. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Welcome

1.1 Call to Order – The Board of Education of Galena Unit School District #120 held their Facility Committee Meeting in the Galena Middle School Library on August 11, 2020. The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

1.2 Roll Call – A roll call was taken, and a quorum was established. The following members were present: Chairperson Mike Hyland, Member Mike Einsweiler, and Member Nikki Frank.

Others in attendance: Superintendent Vincent and District Architect, Marty Johnson.

1.3 Approval of Agenda – Member Einsweiler moved and Member Frank seconded the motion approving the agenda as presented. Motion carried 3-0.

1.4 Public Comments – None.

2. Business

2.1 Recap of Past Projects – Superintendent Vincent presented a packet with a recap of the 10-year HLS and an overview of some of the plans from 2006 to 2019.

2.2. Facility Discussion with District Architect –Marty Johnson provided members with a packet with similar information.

The packet included a variety of concepts from three and two-building scenarios. He also provided an aerial view of the campus outlining the district’s existing land and the land that was acquired over the past few years. He suggested doing a matrix to narrow down one two-building solution and one three-building scenario with costs to review.

2.3 Future Agenda Setting – The Facility Committee set their next meeting for August 31, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. in the Middle School Library.

3. Adjournment

3.1 Adjourn meeting – Member Einsweiler moved and Member Hyland seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at

6:00 p.m. Voice vote, all present voted aye. Motion carried 3-0.
