Carbondale schedules April election for three City Council seats

Three Carbondale City Council members, who will serve four-year terms, will be selected during an April 2021 election.

Information and petition forms are now available in the City Clerk's office. Individuals wishing to register candidacy for City Council will have to complete information and petition forms, which are also found online at the Illinois State Board of Elections website, according to the city. The forms must be completed, signed and turned into the City Clerk's office during the filing period of Nov. 16 to Nov. 23. 

Candidates will be running for the seats of current council members Jessica Bradshaw, Carolin Harvey and Jeff Doherty.

The city will hold a primary election on Feb. 23 if there are more than 12 candidates filing petitions for the positions. The general election for the seats will be on April 6, 2021.
