Analysis: Carbondale pays $5.29 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Carbondale Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.1 percent of the $3,517,260 the Carbondale Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.29 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Carbondale contributed $2,958,276 to the fund, which saw a $548,843 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $558,972, or 15.9 percent, in 2018. Another $12 came from other unspecified sources.
