Analysis: Marion pays $4.50 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Marion Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 81.8 percent of the $801,888 the Marion Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.50 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Marion contributed $656,121 to the fund, which saw a $109,113 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $145,684, or 18.2 percent, in 2018. Another $83 came from other unspecified sources.
