Analysis: Murphysboro pays $5.43 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Murphysboro Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.5 percent of the $549,087 the Murphysboro Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.43 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Murphysboro contributed $463,813 to the fund, which saw a $94,996 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $85,274, or 15.5 percent, in 2018.
