Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education meeting was called to order by President Paul Copeland at 7:07 p.m. with the following members present:

Chaundy Galloway (video) Shackleton (video) Waterman Copeland Martin (video) Smith (video)

Member(s) absent:

Motion made by Matt Shackleton, seconded by Paul Waterman, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Motion made by Jalen Chaundy, seconded by Paul Waterman, to approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on March 23, 2020, as presented. Motion carried.

Motion made by Rick Galloway, seconded by Paul Waterman, to authorize the payment of bills as presented. Roll call vote:

Motion carried.

Motion made by Tommie Smith, seconded by Matt Shackleton, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented.

Motion made by Matt Shackleton, seconded by Jalen Chaundy, to transfer the CD investment funds from First Mid-Bank to the education fund. Roll call vote:

The board discussed facility improvements and financing.

Mr. Wilson gave a COVID 19 update.

Motion made by Paul Waterman, seconded by Jalen Chaundy, to enter into closed session at 8:24 p.m. to discuss personnel. Motion carried.

Motion made by Matt Shackleton, seconded by Tommie Smith, to come out of closed session at 8:39 p.m. Motion carried.

No action was taken in closed session.

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Rick Galloway, to re-employ the support staff members for the 2020-2021 school year: Ceila Tripp, Tiffany Farel, Amy Taylor, Sara Hanshaw, Kent Buckles, Erin Tarrants, Tim Sears, Megan Harrison, Christine Snyder, Dorris McKee, Pat Jones, Kaylyn Colon, Amanda Hobbs, Nichole Tripp, Melody Sarensen, Brenda Riggio, Adam Tarrants, Michelle Scott, Annie Austin, and Susan Lynd. Roll call vote:

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Matt Shackleton, to approve hazard pay (double time, or comp time) to employees Ceila, Sara, Kent, Erin and Megan who worked during COVID-19 Act of God days. Roll call vote:

Motion made by Rick Galloway, seconded by Tommie Smith, to approve the 2020-2021 calendar as presented. Motion carried.

Motion made by Tommie Smith, seconded by Jalen Chaundy, to approve postponing the 8th grade graduation ceremony until June 5, or 12, 2020. Motion carried.

Motion made by Tommie Smith, seconded by Fern Martin, to approve 2020 Summer School Session, if permitted by state guidelines. Roll call vote:

Motion made by Tommie Smith, seconded by Paul Waterman, to approve the intergovernmental agreement with ROE #30 for Cope Safe School for the 2020-2021 school year. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paul Waterman, seconded by Jalen Chaundy, to approve the intergovernmental agreement with ROE #30 for the SOAR program for the 2020-2021 school year. Motion carried.

Motion made by Matt Shackleton, seconded by Rick Galloway, to enter into an agreement with GRP Mechanical for HVAC replacement options A & C, as presented. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paul Waterman, seconded by Rick Galloway, to adjourn the meeting at 9:18 p.m. Motion carried.
