Illinois State Senate District 58 issued the following announcement on May 29.
The following statement can be attributed to State Senator Paul Schimpf (R-Waterloo) following Governor JB Pritzker’s reissuing of his statewide emergency order:
“For the fourth time, Governor Pritzker has assumed the authority to unilaterally decide who gets to provide for their families, what businesses are more important than others, and how communities educate their children. Even more troubling, despite ample opportunities to do so, the leaders of the Illinois General Assembly have failed to provide legislative oversight of the Governor's arbitrary decisions or clarify the legality of his decrees. This continued governance by unrestrained executive orders sets a dangerous precedent for our state and further undermines the rule of law.”
