AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS: Your New Favorite Latte

Ad6ba9d6611951576e0c0d971eb07c3d

African American Museum of Southern Illinois recently issued the following announcement.

Simple and delicious.

Are you as addicted to lattes as I am? Well, I have good news for you because I recently perfected my latte recipe and am here to share it with you! You can use this base recipe to make any flavor latte you choose and you don’t need any fancy equipment!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Coffee: Espresso or other strongly brewed coffee is key for a yummy latte. Decaf works as well.

Milk: you can use any kind you’d like! Make a dairy-free latte with almond, soy, oat, or coconut milk. Or make it more traditional with whole, reduced-fat or skim milk.

What you’ll do:

1. Brew your coffee.

2. While your coffee is brewing, heat up your milk for 30-45 seconds in the microwave.

3. Once your milk is heated, whisk for 30-45 seconds or until frothy.

4. Next, pour your coffee into a separate mug. Very gently pour or spoon the frothed milk on top of your coffee.

5. Your foam should rise to the top of the mug, and should look pretty similar to a traditional latte!

That’s it! Super simple. I like my lattes plain, but if you want to make a flavored latte, follow the same steps, but add 1-2 tsp of sweetener or flavored syrup to your milk before heating. Enjoy!
