African American Museum of Southern Illinois recently issued the following announcement.
In person or virtually.
By Leigh Williams
By now, doing everything virtually from home is the “normal”. Gifts are being dropped off on front porches, “visits” are drive bys and happy hours are done via Zoom or FaceTime. Everyone is doing their best to adapt to our current state – and with Mother’s Day coming up, it’s time to plan how you’re going to make her day special!
If you live with your mom, make her favorite meal! You could do a fancy dinner, brunch, or breakfast in bed – no matter which meal you choose, she’s sure to love it. You could also bake something as a fun activity the two of you could do together
If you don’t live with your mom, but still want her to have her favorite meal, either prepare it and leave it on her doorstep or order her favorite meal from her favorite restaurant! Either way, we know she will appreciate it!
Have a virtual event in her honor. Gather the family for a virtual happy hour or virtual game night to play her favorite game. Jump on a virtual workout together or take an online painting class together. Whatever hobbies she enjoys, there’s an option to do it together virtually!
Just because our current state is different than usual doesn’t mean you can’t make mom’s day special! Do what you can and we have no doubts she will be more than appreciative. Remember, it’s the thought that counts!
