Williamson County board members are feuding over the county’s thorny finances.
In one instance, one member demanded an apology from another over accusations some of the things the board was doing with the accounting firm that handles the county’s audits and consults on the budget weren’t on the up and up.
"You don't continue to do the same thing over and over and over when you find that there's a problem," Williamson County Commissioner Ron Ellis told WSIL. "And that's exactly what we've done."
To be specific, Ellis accused Hudgens and Meyer LLC of being behind on their audits to the point of putting the county’s ability to seek grants in danger. He adds that the firm previously failed to uncover theft in the circuit clerk's office.
Ellis has also argued that it strikes him as a conflict of interest that the same firm would handle the county's audits and consult on the budget.
No matter what comes from it all, Ellis has vowed not to apologize.
