African American Museum of Southern Illinois recently issued the following announcement.
While it might be all sunshine and warm days right now, we all know this weather won’t last forever, and that’s why we want to help you prepare your wardrobe, no matter what the temperature.
Whether it be a chilly summer night, or the start of a new season, these are the transitional style pieces that we recommend all men have at their disposal year-round.
1) Neutral Cardigan
What says cool, effortless style more than a cardigan? Not much!
Invest in a neutral colored cardigan, like black, and simply throw it over a t-shirt on days where the weather can’t make up its mind between hot and cold. Easy.
2) Light Blazer
For a more sophisticated feel, we also recommend that every man have a light blazer in his wardrobe for transitional weather.
Not only will a blazer elevate your look to take you into the evening, it’s also a great piece to have when it’s too hot for a coat, but it’s too cool for a simple t-shirt.
3) Easy-To-Wear Plaid Shirt
Probably one of our top must-haves for men, we guarantee you’ll get plenty of use out of a plaid shirt. It’s easy to style, always looks good, and pairs with virtually anything.
And hey, if plaid isn’t really your style, any type of overshirt that you can pair with your basic white tee will work wonders in your wardrobe.
4) Chinos
Shorts are great for summer. Denim is wonderful for winter.
But what about a style for transitional weather?
For this, we can’t say enough good things about having a pair (or multiple pairs!) of chinos in your wardrobe.
We love them because they match with everything, yes, but they’re also easy to dress up or down, depending on the occasion. Trust us, you’ll thank us for this recommendation.
5) Light Rain Jacket
While we love the cardigans, blazers, and overshirts mentioned above, on cool rainy days, you’ll likely want to have some type of rain jacket at your disposal.
There’s nothing worse than having to sit all day in a wet shirt. With a rain jacket, though, you can easily remove the piece without having to sacrifice on your style. A rain jacket is a no brainer when considering your transitional wardrobe.
Bottom line: When it comes to transitional style pieces, it’s all about layering to suit the temperatures. Don’t go with anything too heavy, but also don’t simply try rocking a cotton tee and shorts when you know the temperatures are going to drop.
Stock up on these must-have transitional style pieces for men, and you’ll be ahead of the game.
