Jackson County Real Property Committee met June 12

Meeting8213

Jackson County Real Property Committee met June 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

A. Peterson was not able to attend the SIMPO meeting. She went to the May meeting for the FHWA planning review and it went really well. Erbes reported that he attended the SIMPO meeting and briefly discussed the plan to connect Murphysboro and Carbondale with a bike route. Burdick reported that there is a safety study for several locations in Jackson County. Currently, Jackson County does not have any traffic lights in the unincorporated area and the safety study is considering one on Giant City and Pleasant Hill. This will require ongoing maintenance so it should not be considered lightly but it is looking like it is the next step. Burdick and the committee discussed what having a stop light and a roundabout would mean for the county.

Peterson thanked Burdick for all his work and forward thinking. She complemented the way he thinks about his employees and what is best for the county.
