Williamson County Board of Commissioners met May 13.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Williamson County Board of Commissioners met Monday May 13, 2019 at 10:10 a.m. at the Williamson County Administrative Building Boardroom, Marion, Illinois, in a regular meeting of the Williamson County Board of Commissioners with the following members present:


                              Ron Ellis, Chairman

                         Brent Gentry, Commissioner

                             Jim Marlo, Commissioner

Attest: Amanda Barnes, County Clerk and Recorder

Discussion had with Darren Ferrell, Jail Administrator; Bennie Vick, Sheriff; Wendy Cunningham, Assistant State’s Attorney; Kim Meyer, Auditor on jail security system contract. Darren is in negotiations with Accurate Controls Inc. He will come back to the board when he gets a response from Accurate.

The lease payment for Public Building Commission for 2018 has not been made. Doug Williams was called during the meeting to see if PBC would be okay with extending the agreement for two years to allow for the extra $49,000 being paid by the board for the maintenance issues. There will be four $40,000 payments still to be made. The last payment will be made in 2023.

Motion made by Brent Gentry and seconded by Jim Marlo, approving the Gavel Program for the State’s Attorney’s office in the amount of $6,500. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.

Discussion had on the IT position. There were 13 applicants. The applicants have been sent to Ryan Gerber, CDS, to look over and narrow them down for interviews of the best qualified. The Commissioners would like possibly five out of the thirteen to be interviewed at a later date.

Motion made by Ron Ellis and seconded by Brent Gentry to take $6,500 out of contingency to cover the overage for the Early Retirement Incentive. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.

Motion made by Ron Ellis and seconded by Brent Gentry approving transfer of $4,000 from Whiteash Repair and Maintenance Fund to the Whiteash Sewer Fund. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.

Also, will be contacting Ameren to shut off security lights. Customers will be able to keep lights if they want to pay for them theirselves.

Motion made by Brent Gentry and seconded Ron Ellis to adjourn meeting. Roll call vote was taken as follows: Jim Marlo, Yea; Brent Gentry, Yea; Ron Ellis, Yea. All members present voting Yea; motion carried.
