Anne West Lindsey District Library Board of Trustees met March 26. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by President Jim Koonce and a determination of a quorum was established with the following board members physically present: Jim Koonce, Bill Slider, Sheri Hunter, Allison Owen, Elaine Miskell, Butch Waggoner and Debbie Johnson present. Employees present were Mary Stoner, Dave Cole and Pam Alstat. Visitor was Tom Harness.


Approval of the agenda was approved with a motion by Bill Slider, and seconded by Butch Waggoner. The motion carried.

Reading and approval of last month’s minutes were approved with a motion by Bill Slider, seconded by Allison Owen, and the motion was carried.

Tom Harness, representing Harness Digital Marketing, gave an update to the progress his company has made. They met 2 of their 3 goals, with the fundraising goal not yet met. The branding and traffic goals were met. There were 40 “shares” of the January Reading Challenge, and we were awarded some money for it. In October, there were 21,000 impressions of our library, and by January that number had risen to 31,152. Director Mary Stoner recommended keeping Harness Digital Marketing an additional 3 months. Bill Slider moved we retain Harness Digital Marketing at the cost of $1300 for the next 3 months; seconded by Butch Waggoner. Motion carried.

In the area of Communications, a report from Google reported in February 3,165 people utilized Google to find AWLDL. Also, in a newsletter from the Illinois Local Government Professional Services, the amount has been increased from $25,000 to $40,000 to purchase without bids.

In the financial report from Dave Cole, he stated we received 3 invoices from BC Contracting, clarifying the question raised at the January 22, 2019 meeting. A motion to accept the financial report, per audit, was made by Bill Slider, with Debbie Johnson seconding. Motion passed

In the Library Director’s report, there will be an astronomy viewing on March 27 using the new telescope, with Harry Treece in charge. Also noted, volunteers from Cornerstone Church will be coming April 13th to help with library landscaping. A motion was made by Elaine Miskell, seconded by Allison Owen, to accept the Director’s report. Motion carried.

The Board looked over changes suggested to the Policy Manual. Debbie Johnson moved to accept the Policy Manual with the new changes; seconded by Sheri Hunter. This motion carried. Board members were given information for their Trustee training.

At 7:45pm, a motion to adjourn was made by Bill Slider; seconded by Butch Waggoner. Motion carried.
