Analysis: Herrin administrators rank 435th in state for average pay

Administrators in Herrin Community Unit School District 4 earn an average of $98,876 per year, ranking 435th out of 864 districts in the state, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 8.9% lower than in 2014 and 3.6% higher than in 2009. District administrators make 7.8% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Williamson County school district enrolled 2481 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 199 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
